A NIE (Número de Identidad de Extranjero) is your unique identification number as a foreigner in Spain. You need it for almost all official and financial matters.

A valid passport or ID card, a completed EX-15 form and proof of the reason for your application (e.g. a property purchase deed). A copy of your passport is not required, the document number is enough.
